John Deere recently announced product and technology enhancements to its Sprayer and Self-Propelled Sprayer lineup for model year 22. New John Deere 400 and 600 Series Sprayers will ensure higher-quality application and offer improved features for operator comfort. See & Spray™ Select advanced spraying technology will also be available on these machines. An all-new lineup of Hagie™ Self-Propelled Sprayers, designed to help manage challenging field conditions, also comes to market and will be included for three models.

John Deere 400 and 600 Series Sprayers Overview

Three new John Deere 400 Series (408R, 410R, and 412R) and two new 600 Series (612R and 616R) Sprayers have been introduced to deliver improved operator comfort, improved application quality, and tank sizes ranging from 800 up to 1,600 gallons depending on the model.

Improved Cab Comfort

Three new cab options provide operators with all-day comfort while delivering outstanding visibility. The Ultimate package includes a heated, ventilated leather seat that swivels up to 24 degrees to the left or right, a 6.5-inch touchscreen satellite- and smartphone-ready radio, five USB ports, a 12-volt outlet, footrests, a refrigerator, and a dual-tilt steering column with a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Visibility options include electrically adjustable and heated mirrors, additional cameras, and LED lighting packages to provide operators with better visibility where and when it's needed.

Precision Farming Technology Enhancements

Factory-installed John Deere AutoTrac™ keeps the sprayer in the row for precise product placement, while John Deere ExactApply™ technology means operators can more accurately control droplet size, spray pressure, and individual nozzles. Optional BoomTrac™ Pro 2 further hones spraying accuracy by maintaining the boom's position. To ensure farmers can leverage the power of their data, the sprayers come standard with a JDLink™ connection, integrated StarFire™ GPS receiver, Generation 4 CommandCenter™ display, and free access to the John Deere Operations Center, allowing customers to easily view and monitor their equipment and data.

Tank & Engine Size

The 412R comes with a 1,200-gallon tank and is powered by a 326-hp PowerTech 9.0 L engine. The two largest 400 Series Sprayers can reach field speeds up to 25 mph and transport up to 35 mph. The largest model is the 616R equipped with a 1,600-gallon tank and a 375-hp PowerTech engine. Both 600 Series Sprayers can reach field speeds up to 25 mph and transport up to 35 mph. All 400 and 600 Series Sprayers can be equipped with 90-, 100-, or 120-foot steel booms, or 120- or 132-foot carbon-fiber spray booms.

See & Spray Select

John Deere See & Spray Select ™ is an integrated camera technology that minimizes input costs by treating weeds only when they are detected. See & Spray ™ Select uses camera technology to detect color differentiation in the field and is ideal for small-grains farmers who manage weed pressure on fallow acres.

As the sprayer moves through the field, its cameras rapidly detect only green plants within fallow ground and triggers an application to those plants. See & Spray ™ Select has a similar hit rate to broadcast spraying while applying 77% less herbicide on average. This allows farmers to save tremendously on their herbicide applications over a season.

Built on the John Deere ExactApply™ foundation, a 400 or 600 Series Sprayer, factory equipped with See & Spray ™ Select, is the only OEM solution available that offers farmers both a spot-spray and a broadcast machine in one integrated package. "This helps farmers cover more acres per day because they're not stopping as often to refill," Joel Basinger, marketing manager for John Deere Basinger said. See & Spray ™ Select can be equipped on new model year 22 and newer John Deere 400 and 600 Series Sprayers, which include the 408R, 410R, 412R, 612R, and 616R.

Hagie Self-Propelled Sprayers

An all-new lineup consisting of three Hagie Self-Propelled Sprayers (STS12, STS16 and STS20) is available with tanks sizes ranging from 1,200 gallons to 2,000-gallon capacity. The sprayers are powered by John Deere PowerTech™ 9.0 L Engines that generate 300 to 400 horsepower.

Each STS sprayer is equipped with PowrSpray™ technology that enables up to 300-gallon-per-minute fills, plus auto prime and onboard mixing so operators can get back in the field quicker. Using optional John Deere ExactApply™ technology, operators can control droplet size, spray pressure, and individual nozzle control on the STS Sprayer. Pressure re-circulation and optional System Air Purge technology can improve job quality and simplify cleanout while reducing product waste.

All the features Hagie customers value, such as high clearance, four-wheel steer, and front boom, have been insightfully combined with John Deere's technology. Each STS Sprayer comes standard with a JDLink™ connection, plus an integrated StarFire™ 6000 GPS receiver, Generation 4 CommandCenter™ display, and AutoTrac™ guidance.
